well, not digging it.
although i have to say, got caught about the art bit.
she has defined it as this special construct–defining it as a singer who can bring their own take on a song so much so you can put it on the record and sing it.
i love american idol. i hate it and i love it. it’s promoting too much the notion that a good singer has got to sell. that’s way being a package artist is important. like movies..they must have a genre so it’s easy to sell.
popular is good.
alternative, tsk tsk tsk.
cris is good.
megan, ugh.
Everybody loves Obama

Larry King: You recently issued one of your new rules decreeing that Obama must give comedians something to work with. Any suggestions?
Bill Maher: No. It’s very difficult. We have been spoiled, first with Bill Clinton and then George Bush. And here’s a president now who — he’s not stupid. He’s not angry. He’s not a phony. He’s not fat. He’s not cheating on his wife.
Who needs a jerk like that around for the next four years? Come on.
(LAUGHTER)
But look, he’s going to be the president and we’re going to have to get over our nervousness about making fun of a black person. He’s not a black person. He’s the president.
Better TV

It has a ridiculous premise but with rock solid writing. These Americans really know how to make great TV. It’s never been this good.
As for us, I don’t think it’s ever been this bad. We produce shows that look like shameful thoughtless rip-offs. It’s just awful. My days are counted as the discriminating viewer. I think, very soon, I will get my hands dirty and just be part of the problem. I dread for that time.
