Chew on this

I don’t understand why the Philippines…
…doesn’t allow divorce (can’t 2 people come to an agreement that it’s just not working anymore?)
…is still into inane noontime variety fare
…still has too many buses for its city commuters
…pardons scary criminals
…is still thinking about automating elections (let’s just freakin do it)
…still imports 90% of its rice
…still imposes statutory rape for under 13s (why not below 18?)
…has unhealthy love for America
…can forgive Erap
…can forget the evils of Marcos and Martial Law
I don’t understand why the world…
…is still allowing corporations to ruin the earth
…can’t accept the idea that gays are here to stay
…is still allowing religion to mix with politics
…is classified into 1st 2nd and 3rd (i hate being treated like i need remedials)
…is obsessed with borders (who draws those stupid lines anyway)
…is obsessed with power
Tell me it’s just not because we’re stupid.
The Big Bad Wolves Are Out

Apparently I am one of those Asians who may have cancer risk due to my “Asian Glow”. It’s not what you think: it’s when you get red-faced after one bottle of beer. I seem to be lacking an enzyme and the red face is a signal. Heads up: Marc Fong and Quelly Ruiz. At least, so says NY Times.
Be very afraid.
And then, it seems some roads are being paved. It looks like Bigote is going to run for president, without remorse or regret…without ever having to return our money. And it seems the other likely candidate is the equally harmful Noli de Castro. They say there are other choices, but I think I’m only ready to support someone like Panlilio or Padaca at this point. And do they even stand a chance? Who’s to say?
The pedophile Jalosjos just got out; the murderer Teehankee released even earlier than the rapist; and the Americans just spat on our sovereignty after their bullying ways to get their troops in Mindanao, messing up with the insurgency and just to rub it in–buy someone’s truth for a mere P100,000 and a U.S. Visa. Puh.
In the meantime, the scandals are making a beeline to the exit. They’re taking quiet baby little steps and taking advantage of our forgetfulness. ZTE, Kuratong Baleleng, Dacer case, Legacy, Jose Pidal, the World Bank mess, Jocjoc’s purchase of ginormous amounts of fertilizer that are nowhere to be found, are we even coming close to any findings? We’re not even sure who killed Ninoy. And somehow, we haven’t gotten back the money the Marcoses stole from the Pinoys.
We also have our homegrown scare, of the salmonella ilk, please avoid the following for now–Mama Peanut Spread Sweet and Creamy; Ludy’s Coco Jam Special; Ludy’s Coco Jam with Langka; Mama Coco Jam; Ludy’s Coco Jam Regular; Ludy’s Coco Jam with Peanut and Sunny Cheers Peanut Butter. In my ref, sits a half-finished jar of Ludy’s Coco Jam. So not only do I run the risk of cancer, but also of typhoid.
Tomorrow, I want to have happier thoughts. But today, bad news rules.
The chiefs are falling
Posted: March 19, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: AIG, Edward Liddy, Erap, Jalosjos, Jon Stewart, Life Change, Lucio Tan 2 Comments »For the first time ever, I was tuned in on Bloomberg. I tuned in for more than an hour listening to AIG CEO Edward Liddy defend his company to America’s eloquent politicos. He sounds like an honest person, this mousy Liddy. I couldn’t hate him because he stepped in when AIG was falling and is only paid a buck a year for his services. And I know that maybe 60% of the hearing just went over my head. Mark to markets and TARP and fiduciary programs were jargons that didn’t make sense despite wiki’s or google’s help. But I did understand one thing: AIG gave bonuses to employees using bailout money. And these people (who by the way, already made a killing trying to make money from air) were going to leave if they didn’t get their bonuses.
This is insane.
I don’t know why this is acceptable.
I don’t know why Lucio Tan can go on flying his planes and going about his life without paying taxes.
I don’t know why a pedophile slash unrepentant criminal like Romeo Jalosjos is now a free man.
I don’t know why we’re not outraged at the very idea that another unrepentant and even more harmful politico is already upping his ground game for the presidential elections. Erap might just win again you guys…what are we going to do about this?
I don’t know why the chiefs of Citigroup, Bank of America and all those other saved companies feel like they deserve a bonus after threatening to hurt America’s very existence and therefore hurt mine.
And on that note, I don’t know why my existence is so affected by these American money experts when I’m so far away.
It’s unfair.
At least Jon Stewart is paid to whine about this whole damn mess.
